A parody of his comic?

It wasn't a parody of his comic. It WAS his comic. Except tweened and with weird music.

NekoFluff responds:

ok X3 look at the comic, then look at my flash. *Not the same* i animated his comic. thats all.

Pretty Damn Funny

Had me laughing out loud for sure. I hope you take this as a compliment, but it had this sweet Home Movies/Dr. Katz thing going on with the way the characters spoke over each other and the way you used the animation style and the camera cuts to your advantage. Great comedic timing overall and I'd say you accomplished exactly what you were going for. Cheers!

Har har

It was cute, I guess. I noticed you ranked culturally relevant satire or whatever up there at the top, which I guess this was intended to be. It just didn't seem like so much of a satire as you just listed off things that everyone's already noticed. The sarcastic parody of a parody of parody comment just sorta made me roll my eyes.

The voice acting thing really didn't hit home as much as I would have expected, although I'll be so bold as to guess I'm one of these estimated 5 voice actors on newgrounds. If anything, I was kinda disappointed by how uninspired the voice acting parodies were.

The most ironic part to me was how you specifically acknowledged the importance of timing in comedy. I felt that the lack of comedic timing was actually one of the greatest shortcomings of this flash.

All in all, I think you're a good artist and I'm glad to share a newgrounds with you.

BiffTheTimid responds:

Actually, the voice actor things were added after I had already moved on to tip number 5, but I felt it was a bit too short, and didn't illustrate my point enough with just dialogue. The girl one makes me laugh, if anything, I like it.

I'm sure I'll be hearing more of you in the very near future so I'll keep an ear out. Wait, I think there's two movies with you on the front page right now! Or maybe just one, I've lost count. Keep up the good voice-acting.

Speechless

Amalloc,

You are the only one who ever makes me step back and rethink the significance of what I am and what I do. You do so much with your characters without having them speak at all. It's so inspiring and humbling.

As I sit here, drinking my red tea, tired and expecting only three hours of sleep tonight, the though goes through my mind, "If all animators did this, I wouldn't have the thing that makes me happiest in the entire world." In case you hadn't guessed yet, that thing is cartoon voice acting. Bringing characters to life through speech and acting brings me great joy, and watching what you're able to do practically on your own strikes me with awe. What you make can be appreciated by all cultures around the world because it requires no language.

In spite of what seems like a riff between your world and mine, the "There She Is!!" cartoons are probably my favorite among any shorts I've ever seen, animated or otherwise. You and your team are an inspiration, Amalloc. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your latest creation with the Newgrounds community.

What I exptected...

I expected to to be BLOWN AWAY X1000 by great comedy, high-paced animations, the sort of immaturity that you write home about.

Fucking urinating Otacon... gosh. I really like the Grey Fox scene! It had me in stitches... so did like everything else though XD. You da O.G., Egoraptor.

Solid Animation

Great animation. Loved every bit of it. Granted (hahahahaha), it was a bit on the short side and the pacing was a bit slow, but I still very much enjoyed it, especially the easter egg. Also, my evil laughter was pretty gay but at least nobody else has mentioned that yet <_<. Oh, and I'm NOT PRO!

Evilcactus responds:

I liked your laugh it was just right i think. Josh you're a professional if you get payed to do something; and you said that you got a couple of cheques for parts...so you are a pro!

Ultimate Fandom

I couldn't in good conscious give this a score below 10. I've never seen so much effort put into a Phoenix Wright project before and this was great! I'm a mega PR fan and have naturally already played through all three games available in English. Such a fun and carefree atmosphere and song coupled with really fun frame-by-frame animation. I actually broke out laughing several times, like the bit with Joe Dark and the Marshall Bros. And I belly laughed when the judge appeared in the line dance with the other girls. Adrian + Franziska was one of my favorite dace pairs. Why? I dunno... Thanks for that awesome bit of cameo-centered fandom.

Forget the joke for a sec, how bout the execution?

Needs a lot of work in the voice acting and comic timing departments. Honestly, that interaction between the two characters felt painfully fake. Then the part at the end was timed very slowly and awkwardly so you were not only well aware of what was about to happen, but you cringing at the thought of just how obvious and lame it was. Maybe that joke could have been very funny if it was well-executed, but that's something we'll simply never know... unless we watch American Dad! =D

JunkYardAnimations responds:

ha, you're funny. fag

If I rated flash based on voice acting alone...

Well, it seemed like conceptually you could have gone somewhere cool with this. I can't help but feel that you fell very short of that. I saw some compliments specifically on the voice acting in a review and thought, aw I better check this out. I cannot understand why, of all things, the voice acting would stand out to someone. Aterga101, try as she did, gave a very deadpan performance and destroyed some potentially funny lines. It sounded like a dry read throughout and was spoken hastily and with little emotion. To her defense, perhaps the script needed some proofing. I can sympathize that sometimes the scriptwriter's first language isn't English, but that shouldn't stop you from getting a proofreader.

I am not obsessed with animation technique, but this seem to very little art in it and rather a small collection of symbols (mostly those making up Samus) tweened to the point that it become very obvious and unsettling.

Grats on your awards and front pages though. You clearly impressed a lot of other people who weren't me and that's just dandy.

Shadowii2 responds:

Yeah, I do know those facts, Im trying to add some expression things like if Samus is supposed to say "stop that". I write "annoyed" next to it.
But voice acting isnt that easy thing afterall since I always screw up with optimization so even if the voice acting is good, they complain that voices are too quiet etc etc.

Thanks for your opinion anyway TomaMoto.

Weak humor only worsened by low audio quality

So apparently this is an inside joke and it's Luis day and blah blah blah... but I still thought this submission was fairly weak. The single joke that comprised this whole thing felt tiresome and overdone. To be quite honest, every time I heard LUIS*BARJARBLEPOP!*, I cringed. Maybe it's cause I'm such a voice acting fanatic, but I simply can't give this flash a high score. Sorry, mate.

Glad you've still got enough fans to give you this admirable score. I guess I'm just missing out on the whole deal with Luis's Mexican heritage being funny.

Jackovv! Do not touch my borner!
